The person you will be in 5 years

What do you expect to be in 5 years from now?

What are you doing now to be that person?

I used to write letter to myself, -as crazy as it sounds - every single year, at the end of December, I would sit and write my best wishes and I also made questions like, "how are things?, do you have a boyfriend now?, what happened with that thing?

And so, a year later, I would receive that letter and I would see how much I've changed in just a year.

It scares me that in five years I'll be 29, I mean, almost 30!, right?, but it also gives me the chance to dream about the person I will become, and the traveling I'll be making and the new experiences.

They say that if your dreams don't scare you, then you are not dreaming big enough. But also, it's not just about dreaming -as I realize recently. It's about making little steps to make those dreams happen. Even if they are baby steps.

So, maybe today it's a good day to sit, have a cup of tea or a coffee and ask yourself:

Who do I want to be in 5 years? and I'm not asking what do you want to have, or be with, or where are you going to be living, I'm asking about you, you loving yourself, and you caring about yourself.

We often forget about ourselves and get caught in the material things, we stuck on work and we are seeking something, but we don't know what it is.

Maybe it's time to figure things out.

    Summer fashion essentials for traveling

We are welcoming the summer, and with that, we are also traveling a lot, because we all need a little vacation from work, from the cities or we just want to have fun, so that's why I created this list talking about the fashion essentials that you must pack, so, don't worry, I got you covered.

    1. Denim shorts.

Personally, I really love high wasted shorts, they are very trendy and also flattering on everyone, also, you can wear them over your swimsuit, dress them down with some sneakers or be a little more fancy with some high heels, the possibilities are endless.

    2. Crop tops

Crop tops are the new black. Whether you love them or hate them, they are everywhere, and you should definitely give them a chance.

    3. Bodysuits

Most of my friends have seen bodysuit and imediately think "that's a swimsuit", but honestly, they are the most comfortable thing in the world, also, they mak you look slimmer, so, do you need another excuse to wear them?

    4. Belts

Whether you like them skinny or thick, you need to have some on your closet, and pack some, because they can make an outfit look amazing.

    5. Sandals

So your feet can breathe, and also you will look very fashionable.

    6. Sneakers

I used to hate sneakers so much, I never wore them, until recently, I understand how comfortable they are, also, you just need to have a white and a black pair, and you are good to go.

    7. Jewelry

Statement pieces like this ones would make a perfect outfit.

    Summer's coming

    Summer's coming

So, we all know what that means: yes, hot weather everywhere.
Especially if you live on the coast, or if you are planning to go on vacation to a warm place, you may want to take some precaution, and start buying some appropriate clothes.
But, what is it appropriate? We can’t just go around on a bikini the whole time (or can we?), so,
Let’s talk about dresses and bodysuits.

You can wear dresses no matter your age, and most importantly, you can wear them everywhere, any occasion, and they are so easy to wear, you just throw them on, and that’s it.

    Here are some examples:

Bodysuits, on the other hand, are so trendy right now, and it’s probably because they are super comfortable, and you can wear them with almost everything: with maxi skirts, with pants, shorts, with a blanket around your waist, you can do whatever you want, and trust me, with this hot weather, you don’t want to spend a lot of time thinking about putting an outfit together, so that’s why bodysuits are so essential.

Summer’s coming, so you better be ready.

    Sayulita Sea Turtles

We are so fortunate to be near Sea Turtles, which are in danger of extinction!  Many evenings when surfing in the area you will see a little head pop up within feet of your board, and of course at first you are startled, but then you see it's just a lovely little turtle. Alejandra Flores Barba, one of our Rosemary girls, has helped pioneer Sayulita's Sea Turtle protection group.  She taught me a few things about Sea Turtles and I wanted to share them with you.

Female adult turtles come up onto the beach and lay their eggs at night. She will make a hole with her fins and if it’s quiet and dark she will start to lay the eggs. During this process the turtles are very vulnerable to poachers because they are in a sort of trance. When she is finished she will cover the nest with her fins and compress the sand with her body. Then she will return to the ocean. The mama turtle will never see her baby turtles. Turtles will lay an average of 100 eggs each time.

The organization that helps to protect the turtle population here in Sayulita, come at night to find the nests and then they take the eggs back to the nursery. There they create a fake nest where the eggs can hatch safely. Incubation is around 45 days. The temperature of the nest will determine if the baby turtles are male or female. Baby turtles are super strong; they break their shell and start digging themselves out of the hole. The group releases the turtles at sunset when there are fewer predators. On average only 1 out of 100 will make it to be an adult turtle. Turtles remember where they were born and will return to the same beach to lay its eggs at about 6 years of age.

So anyway our shop sponsored a release of baby turtles and it was really cool, and I learned a lot and just wanted to share! xo

    You're Your Own Worst Critic!

A friend of mine took these photos on Thursday, and I love them for so many reasons. I love that it was my little Paul’s first time naked in the ocean.   I love that I shared that moment with a new friend. I love that our big Paul was surfing in front of us. I love that the day was stormy and the ocean had a mysterious feel, and it was warm out but not scorching hot. The air felt soft that day, like the sand. I love that it wasn’t planned because then everything was very natural.

I was planning to sift through the photos and edit them, or just post the ones that I was looking best in… then I decided a few things. 1, this post wasn’t about me. 2, the theme of this day was about feeling the moment and being natural. 3, (and most importantly) why am I my own worst critic.

It’s strange how your first instinct when you see a photo of yourself is to pick it apart and start staring at all the imperfections (for me anyway). Part of growing older for me is about accepting that your face and body grows older too, and that is ok. I wish I were a person who loved photos of myself. I have found one thing to be true though; have you ever looked back at a photo you hated a few years ago, and all of the sudden you don’t think its so bad? This happens to me all the time. I always think, “why did I hate this photo so much?”. I believe it’s because by the time you look back at it, you have already aged a few more years and are used to seeing the current you, so the old you starts looking better!

So, here are my photos from Thursday, unedited! Well I did do one little thing; I put a shell on my little Paul in the photo that was the most explicit.  Enjoy
